Eben’s passing on August 3 has given us pause to recognize the unwavering community-mindedness that our members maintain. As a proud Rotarian for three quarters of a century, Eben’s legacy exemplifies Service Above Self to the very maximum of its definition. The half dozen times that Paul Harris honours have been bestowed upon him are certainly worthy of recognition, but even more important is the lifelong commitment to supporting our community through the work of the Rotary Club of Trenton. These qualities are a model for all Rotarians and, indeed, all citizens of Quinte West.
This amazing event is just a month away! As one of our key fundraising events, it’s important to support the tournament with the strength of our full club. Your contributions of labour on the day of the event are really appreciated.
Tournament hands: Everything from setting up administrative areas, putting out signage, greeting golfers to monitoring prize holes, this day is able take what you’ve got to give.
Advance Contributions: In addition, Lynn Lake is co-ordinating some excellent prize bundles and you’re invited to contribute some nice alcohol bottles (or other items) to attract $$. You can reach out to Lynn directly or contact me or Secretary Paul to co-ordinate.

While December seems like it’s a long way away, the magic of Christmas is made possible by those who plan it. Imagine a gorgeous church interior transformed into a winter wonderland walkway!
Like the golf tournament, this event is the engine that drives our community work by providing much needed funds. We’re on track to make this third Festival of Trees our biggest and best ever… with your help.
Event set-up: PP Jeremy is seeking 6 or 7 hands for the Thursday evening set-up and for the Sunday evening take-down, so please mark your calendars and let us know you can help.
Event operations: Share your festive spirit by welcoming guests, selling tickets and generally adding warmth to our event. We really want you!

Looking ahead at our Event Calendar, you’ll see mini-golf scheduled for next week. Bring your family and friends for a fun time of connection and laughs.
As well, we’ve got two hands-on service opportunities in the subsequent weeks, including our sewing project to support school children in the Dominican Republic on the 24th of August and food packing at the Trenton Care and Share Food Bank on August 31. No skills required for either event… just bring your good self and we’ll train you on the spot.
Tonight (August 10)… it’s an annual tradition… Interclub BBQ and Karaoke in Brighton. Our club will be offering up a smashing rendition of Sweet Caroline, so here’s a link if you’d like to hop in the shower and practice between now and this evening.
The changing shape of society means that, in general, people are more mobile and less connected than ever before. Families move. Traditional affiliations with church, clubs and activities are strained if not broken. The Rotary Club of Trenton is an antidote for this trouble.
Yes, the club has changed with the times in its 100+ years, and service and fellowship remain core values. Forgive us for the small traditions that have fallen by the wayside (strict formality, penalties for forgotten name tags) and revel in the ones we cherish (we care about your birthday, for example).
If you’re a faithful attendee, then we celebrate you. And if you’ve been pulled away for a while, that’s ok. We’re still here. There’s nothing weird about coming back after a long time away. We’ve held your place at the table because you’re family.
